In collaboration with Cody Igo, Alexander Kirkpatrick, Alex Mendoza, and Maria Fern.

 

As we become more digitally assimilated, the sense of intimacy and physical contact is dwindling. AI animations are used to emphasize how intimacy through the hands cannot be easily grasped anymore (this is conveyed through the AI not generating the hands properly). These animations are juxtaposed with shots of the group members interacting with their hands, who at the time barely knew each other.

 

Igo selected stills of the hands that were captured via the RED Dragon to get a label or word for each still via the ImageNet library through p5.js. Each label along with the word “hands” was used as prompts by Goswami and Igo to generate AI animations of hands via Deforum Stable Diffusion. Camera footage was shot on RED Dragon by everyone. The song selection process was led by Igo, Fern, and Goswami. The editing process was led by Fern, Kirkpatrick, and Mendoza.
